Grand Rapids, MI — May 14, 2025 — Michigan Wheel, a leading manufacturer of marine propulsion equipment, today announced the strategic sale of its United Kingdom operations to Nakashima Propeller, a global leader in marine propeller technology. This transaction represents a significant step in Michigan Wheel’s strategic realignment to focus on its core market segments and growth opportunities.
The divestiture of the UK operations allows Michigan Wheel to intensify its focus on core market segments, particularly its expanding government business division. This strategic move aligns with the company’s long-term vision of strengthening its position in high-value sectors while optimizing operational efficiency.

Since its inception, Michigan Wheel’s UK office has undergone remarkable transformation under the leadership of Terry Hughes. What began as a start-up sales and marketing office has evolved into a full-service sales, repair and manufacturing operation. The talented group of professionals assembled in the UK under Mr. Hughes’ leadership has successfully expanded Michigan Wheel’s European footprint while maintaining the company’s high standards for quality and customer service.
For Nakashima Corporation, the acquisition of Michigan Wheel’s UK operations reinforces its strategic vision for international expansion and enhances its global market presence. The addition of Michigan Wheel’s UK facilities and talent will significantly bolster Nakashima’s manufacturing capabilities and customer base in the European market.
