The M-500 is selected by many operators for new boat construction, re-powers, and propeller upgrades. When compared the Dyna-Quad, the extra blade and additional blade area provides potential for increased thrust without increasing propeller diameter, which may be impossible due to clearance considerations. The M-500 is the top choice on installations where heavy vee-struts or other hull appendages affect inflow, where a propeller with a lower blade number could produce significant vibration due to the inflow variations. The M-500 can also reduce noise and vibration in situations with tight tip clearance. The M-500 provides exceptional durability with performance approaching a custom propeller at the cost of a standard series propeller. This series is globally sourced as the economically advantageous standard series propeller line. The “M” are manufactured to Michigan Wheel Marine tolerance and hub dimensional standards. The material used in manufacture is certifiable to ABS type 2 in manganese bronze, and to ABS in NiBrAl. Hale MRI computerized inspection equipment is utilized in manufacturing and final inspection.

The four blade DQ469 uses the same blade design as the DJ355. The fourth blade provides additional thrust in diameter constrained applications and can help minimize noise and vibration. Like the DJ355, the DQ469 provides good value for smooth, reliable, and quiet performance and can be considered an alternative to the Michigan Dyna-Quad.

The 4 blade DQ486 comes into consideration when there is requirement for more blade area than offered by the DQ469, due to loading or diameter restiction. The increased skew also helps minimize noise and vibration in situations with limited tip clearance. The DQ486 can be considered an alternative to the Michigan DQX or the Federal HX-400.

The 5 blade M-506 is intended for highly loaded applications with very tight diameter constraints. Typically, more blade count will contribute to smooth and quiet operation. The 21 degree skew is ideal for tunnel installations. In pronounced keel applications, the 5 blades in rotation will break the synchronization of 4 blades, and thereby reduce vibration.

Michigan has a wide variety of propeller styles available to get the most out of your sailboat while under power or under sail. Our 2 blade and 3 blade fixed pitch propeller series for sailboats are available in diameters of 10” through 24”, in a wide range of pitch. Custom sizes are also possible. The typical material is Manganese Bronze Michalloy K, although NiBrAl Michalloy XX material is also available. This series of propellers may be machined to fit a full range of metric standards as well as SAE standard taper shafts.

Dyna-Jet Cupped - 3 Blade
The Dyna-Jet Cupped is designed for high-power fast bottom boats. These propellers are made of a NiBrAl (Nickel, Bronze, Aluminum) alloy which provides extra strength, less flex, and greater durability. With this model, the trailing edges of the blades are cupped for extra speed. Cupping also adds camber, maximizing thrust and minimizing cavitation erosion on the propeller.
